********GENERAL NEWS********

US Navy refuses to disclose sonar use in whales lawsuit:

(it looks more and more with every day that the concept of civilian control over our military is gone. the US military is only accountable to itself; they claim "national security" whenever civilians try to find out what it is doing.)

texas dolphin die-off "puzzles scientists":

Surge in dolphins washing ashore "puzzling":

(Nothing "puzzling" about Navy sonar.)

Seven beached pilot whales die on Galapagos:

Navy refuses to protect whales during unecessary sonar tests:

Honeybees mysteriously disappear across US causing national tragedy:

"Terror database has quadrupled in four years":

(the Washington Post IS definitely part of the "intelligence community". notice how the writer favors the need for a "terror list". notice how much dignity is given to the 'intel community'. instead of being depicted as rats destroying a society the Post glamorizes the 'work'.)

Housing starts rebond from lowest in nine years:

(everywhere in the US they're constructing new buildings. In Baltimore, where there is a surplus of housing, they're building huge fortresses for SUV owners to invade the city and start turning it into the suburbs.

they're doing this to prop up the housing economy. why don't they build subways, people movers, light rail? Why the Hell can Europe and Asia build public transportation but the US can't?

any adult can see the efficiencies that public transportation can provide. you don't have to have visited another country to imagine people moving around without consuming much fossil fuels.)

********CORPORATE POWER********

Corzine to sell off New Jersey's toll roads!!!

(is there any easier way to make money? giving those roads to corporations is unbelievably cancerous to civilized society. corporations have absolute power today.)

The human costs of four years of war
The US invasion has caused nearly three-quarter million Iraqi deaths

It's a bait and switch. The electric car was good to go, it was fast, clean ,quiet, and non polluting, also cool looking. GM made a bunch of them , but didn't market them well and eventually recalled them and sent them to be crushed although they were in perfect condition. Then Bush and the local air quality organization come out with this hydrogen fuel cell car and stop talking about the electric car, but then it turns ou that the hydrogen cars will not be any where near ready for 20 years or so. That is because the electric cars would have destroyed the oil companies and despite the fact that they would sell, they would hurt American car companies too because they couldn't make money on repairs and parts. Then Texaco or Chevron bought the battery company that the electric car needs and will not allow it to be used. It is the most sickening thing. We have the technology to stop using oil and the politicians helped big oil stop it.

Cars that make hybrids look like gas guzzlers. 100 mpg:

Fuel's paradise? Power source that turns physics on its head:,3605,1627424,00.html

"It seems too good to be true: a new source of near-limitless power that costs virtually nothing, uses tiny amounts of water as its fuel and produces next to no waste..."

Bankrupt GM tried to kill its electric car! Fans of the electric car trying to fight back:

(when do the US auto manufacturers begin to pay the American people back for decades of subsidies? The public is craving electric cars. Meanwhile, GM is losing money faster than it can be printed. When does GM stop holding us hostage with fossil-fuel burning cars that suck?

just how many GM executives does it take to turn on an electric car?)

******HEALTH, SCIENCE and LIVING******

"Saturn's Hyperion: a moon with odd craters":

(APOD's illustration at the link above is so utterly ludicrous it makes me cry with laughter. doesn't NASA have any quality control regading the fake images it produces of the "Cassini probe of Saturn"?)

*the SUN*

Dazzling new images reveal the 'impossible' on the Sun:

Scientists have created a sheep that's 15% human:

(the 911 planehuggers are sheep that are 50% human.)

Miami - Masters Series

Federer and Nadal are the still the two possibilities on the ATP tour. Nadal has a good chance here. the Miami courts are a little slower than other hardcourts.

the next few months on the ATP tour shall be really exciting. Federer is in the same position he was last year; i.e., he's shooting for a Grand Slam. standing in his way at the French Open is two-time champ Nadal.

after the French Open, there's about a month gap then Wimbledon starts up. Fed is going for his fifth Wimbledon, which would tie Borg on the modern list.

Ingmar Bergman's The Silence (1963):

Ingmar Bergman, Winter Light (1962):

Winter Light and 'the Silence' are both very slow-paced, challenging films from Ingmar Bergman showing people living in traps, some self-imposed. it is hard to imagine a time (before even the Moon hoax was shown on TV) where audiences would not be terribly bored watching these two films.

however, I think both are worthwhile. Winter Light features Gunnar Bjornstrand once again playing a pastor who resembles Bergman. Ingrid Thulin is excellent as the school teacher who is in love with the pastor. she returns in The Silence and plays a mad sister. She's first-rate; a top-shelf actress with stunning looks.

Winter Light shows a man living inside of a box; while the pastor doubts the existence of God, he is unable to leave the confines of the Church and marry Ingrid Thulin. he's doomed to his prison and she's doomed to hers.

The Silence crawls but has a lot of great visuals. It focuses on the distance between two sisters raising a young boy with a strong imagination. Are the dwarves real? Is Ingrid Thulin going to have a complete breakdown? the film abruptly finishes before we know for sure.

i wish we still lived in an era where filmmakers could make totally uncommercial movies just for the sake of doing it.
