On 3-27-07 major weapons manufacturers such as Raytheon and Boeing held a Military Technologies Conference at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. They were discussing new and evil ways to kill people more efficiently, such as a micro-wave gun to burn people under the skin, which is to be used in Iraq.
About 15 anti-war protesters staged a protest, coordinated by the Jamaica Plain Anti-war Committee, at the front entrance to the Hynes Center. Hynes Center security told us we could not be on the sidewalk in front cause"it is private property".(since the city of Boston owns the Hynes it is really public space). So we stood on a narrow concrete island facing the front entrance. Protesters ranged from some very cool and aware high school students to older veteran protesters and Code Pink Raging Grannies singing anti-war songs. Petitions against militarism were signed by passersby. Some of the Tech Conf. war criminals came out to have a smoke to shouts of "no to the war profiteers" and "arms are for hugs, not war".
It is the military-corporate complex that makes money off wars and they are the instigators of the wars. When profits from war stop--then war will stop.
