Military Spending Protest to be held on Tax day in Lawtown
28 Feb 2004
Every year, on tax day, activists from around Massachusetts set their sites on the Military Industrial Complex and speak out against the obscene military budget of the US, where we spend more than the rest of the world combined on the instruments of death and destruction.

5th Annual Death & Taxes Resistance Festival

Saturday April 10, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the IRS building in Lawrence, Mass.

Contact: Rose Gonzalez (978) 975-2421

Join us for a Celebration of Life as we march from IRS to Raytheon (Only 1/4 Mile) with music, puppets, the anarchist quack block, a Jedi Knight contingent and more.

And don't miss this years Awards Ceremony, where we will crown Mr & Ms. Death & Taxes and other honorable mentions.

Bring your family, friends, signs, puppets, musical instruments, costumes and rubber ducks. Gather at Noon in front of IRS, RT. 133 Andover, followed by a march to Raytheon.

Raytheon is the fourth largest military contractor in the US and operates a weapons plant just a few miles from Lawrence, one of the poorest cities in Massachusetts. The company manufactures the Tomahawk missile, 320 of which were fired on the city of Baghdad in the first night of bombing alone.

Each Tomahawk missile costs between $600,000 and $1 million. While the federal government gives Raytheon hundreds of millions of dollars to build weapons components in Andover, Lawrence's schools, low-income housing programs and social services agencies are under-funded.

Join us as we continue highlighting the destructive priorities of our national budget, where currently $.53 of every tax dollar goes for militaristic purposes.
