Latino Pride 2007

Events include: Movie screenings at the Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (at the Museum of Fine Arts), 9th Annual Miss. Mass. Gay Latina Pageant (at Fran's Place), a community discussion on the 2008 Elections, a transgender law panel discussion, a health and immigration panel discussion, the 4th Annual Our Pride of Latinos GLBT Reception and the 1st Miss. Mass Latina Queen of Queens Pageant & Ball (both at the Radisson Hotel), as well as several dances and parties during the week!

Latino Pride is organized by Somos Latin@s LGBT Coalition, and sponsored in part by Boston Pride.
Tuesday, May 15

Lobby Day for Transgender Equality - Support HB 1722, An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes Part of Clock in for Equality - National Day of Action for Workplace Equality. At the Massachusetts State House, Room 350 from 10 am to 12 p.m. House Bill 1722 sends a clear message that no one should face violence or experience discrimination in employment, housing, credit, public accommodations, or public education simply because of their gender identity or gender expression. This legislation strengthens the Commonwealth' s commitment to ensuring that all people, including our transgender borthers and sisters, are treated fairly under the law and given an equal chance to contribute to our communities and economy. Elections 2008: Inclusion and Democracy! Is the Latino GLBT community included? A community discussion with Stonewall Democrats, national and local political figures. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the AIDS Action Committee Drop-In Center, Columbus Avenue (corner of Mass. Ave). Speakers include: National Mobilizer Lisbeth Melendez, Rep. Liz Malia, and Sen. Jarett Barrios. Free and Open to all!

A night of Mizery, at Jacques Nightclub, 79 Broadway Street in Boston's Theatre District, $6 at the door only, 21+, Night begins at 8 p.m., karaoke after the film. Noon - Proclamation of Latino Pride by Honorable Felix Arroyo and the Boston City Council. Boston City Council Chambers, Boston City Hall. Free and Open to all!

Transgender Law panel discussion from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Harvard University Law School, 1563 Massachusetts Avenue, CambridgeRoom Hauser 102. Free and open to the public. Speakers: Rep. Carl Sciortino, Jr., Alex Solange, Diego Sanchez, Jennifer Levi and Jesse "Boquita" Tavarez.

Special Official Latino GLBT Pride Night at Venue/Chaps (100 Warrington Street, Boston), 10:30 p.m.. Come and celebrate Latino Pride 07 at the original Latino Gay Night under new management. Special performances and special DJ! Come and celebrate with the newly crowned Miss. Mass Gay Latina 2007! 21+

Thursday, May 17
GLBT Latino Health & Immigration Panel Discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MALE Center of the AIDS Action Committee, Columbus Avenue (corner of Mass. Ave). Panelists include: Giovanna Negretti from Oiste, Ana Maldonado from Fenway Community Health, Lawyer, & Community Activist. Free and open to the general public.

Friday, May 18
Food for the Soul Dance at La Maquina del Sabor at 367 Revere Beach Blvd in Revere. 18+ Proper ID Required. Special night with "picadera" and other special treats!

Saturday, May 19
All of these events at the Radisson Hotel, 200 Stuart Street in Boston. Validated Discount Parking available in hotel garage for all of the night events. Latino GLBT Community Fair, Give aways, information, free & Open to all from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. 4th Annual Our Pride of Latinos GLBT Reception from 6 to 8 p.m., doors open at 5:30 p.m. $50, includes entrance to the Pageant and Ball immediately following, 21+ 1st Miss. Mass Latina Queen of Queens Pageant & Ball Pageant & Ball, come and dance the night away with all of the title holders from the past and Latino Queens. It is a night of crowns and Latino/as! Who will win the title of Queens of Queens! Every ticket holder will gain a ticket for the raffle of the night! $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Pageant/Ball is a 19+ event. "Gathering for Justice" on the Common starting at 1 p.m. Come and gather with the group Socializing for Justice for an outdoor gathering on the Boston Common. Bring your blankets, snacks, games, and instruments for an afternoon of fun in the sun! There will be lots of friendly and engaging conversation and cross-issue alliance building! Go to to RSVP. The Spirit Dance Celebration, at Frans Place, 776 Washington Street, Lynn, 18+ the winners of both pageants will perform tonight as we close the Latino Pride Celebration of `07.
