Russia to supply important Boeing parts
28 Jul 2007
Boeing has set up a joint venture with Russia's VSMPO-Avisma, the world's largest titanium producer, to make components for the Dreamliner passenger aircraft.
Saturday 28th July, 2007

Boeing and the Russian titanium maker have agreed to a 50:50 deal for the new company, Ural Boeing Manufacturing.

the company will primarily manufacture pressed titanium components, which will undergo finishing at Boeing's factory in Portland, Oregon.

The deal has been met with concern in the U.S, which fears that the leading aircraft maker could become too dependent on a supplier effectively controlled by the Kremlin.

Boeing and European aircraft-making giant Airbus, account for 30 percent VSMPO-Avisma's earnings.
