Monday, November 12
RICARDO CALDERON of the Salvadoran Union Front (FSS)
7:00-9:00pm
Democracy Center-->45 Mt. Auburn St, Harvard Square
In the last year, the Salvadoran government had made aggressive moves to privatize two essential public services: water and the public health care system. In defense of their "pay or die" national privatization schemes, the Salvadoran right-wing government has arrested, brutalized, and charged with "committing acts of terrorism" those who peacefully protest these destructive plans. On the frontlines of popular resistance to privatization are the labor unions--who are also hit the hardest by the government's attempts to crush popular opposition to privatization.
