New England Anarchist Assembly
20 Dec 2007
The 207 Collective would like to welcome all interested anarchists, activists and friends to the second New England sub-regional Assembly of the NorthEast Anarchist Network (NEAN).

The assembly will have a strong focus on organizing, networking and building community involvement. This is the perfect place for individuals to plug into local groups, projects and events. Never been to an anarchist assembly or event? Everyone is welcome! Come learn about the movement and connect with like-minded individuals, by yourself or with a friend. Want more information, or want to help out? Contact us ahead of time with questions or comments! We'd love to hear from you. Contact information for the 207 Collective, which is hosting the event, or for NEAN, can be found at the bottom of this page!

The assembly will be held during the weekend of the 12-13th of January in Portland, Maine. Both Saturday and Sundays' events will be held at the Meg Perry Center located at 644 Congress St., in Portland, Maine. The meetings will be from 10AM to 6PM Saturday and 10:30AM to 5PM on Sunday.

Housing is available for Friday and Saturday nights. Please contact Ani at stamand (at) riseup.net in advance to let us know that you're coming. Also let us know if you have specific housing requests or allergies.

*****************************************************************
Our basic agenda will be open to changes and concerns Saturday morning. The structure is as follows:

SAT 10AM-6PM:

-Introductions
-Agenda changes and concerns
-Into to Hand Signals and Discussion Process
-Establishing Groundrules and Respect Workshop (Regarding this weekend)
-Brief Caucus Meetings

-Groups and Project Discussion: Organizing Effectively (What groups and/or projects have attendees been involved in and what makes them successful? This block is an informal info-share and will also be a good time for people to plug themselves into local projects. We are interested in networking and comparing similar and different projects to better understand effective organizing.)

-Organizing Skills, Direct Action and Community Interactions Workshop

-Group Discussions (If time allows. We will provide space for people interested in participating in discussions after the days events are over.)

------------
Please feel free to table or bring literature! Contact us in advance if you'll need a table or extra room.
------------
SAT. NIGHT:
We have planned a show for Saturday night. It will be a benefit to cover expenses of the weekend and also will support local groups.

*****************************************************************
SUN 10:30AM-5PM:

-Break into regional projects/working groups (The 207 Collective would like to suggest that we begin this half of the day by having a large group discussion about the upcoming RNC.)
