The creator of the first-ever images of Patriarch in pop-art style was severely beaten In St-Petersburg (Russia). |
On Tuesday evening, 24 February, artist and poet Artyom Suslov (19 years old) went to the Moscow in order to transmit the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kiryl his portrait.
He said, that when he went to the railway station, on the street he was surrounded by two men and they took out a knife. They accompanied him to a quiet place where first they gave "explanation" that Suslov "is living too freely," and that the Patriarch can not be the subject of a joke and then severely beaten.
Recall, that the scandalous poet and artist for the first time in Russia painted portrait of His Holiness in such extravagant artistic style.
He said, that he was not intended business objectives and presents a picture as a gift, hoping that this will strengthen the connection of church and creative youth.
This is not the first intsendent this kind, which occurred with the artist. A year ago, Artyom Suslov - the leader of the art-movement "POP-REVOLUTION!" was beaten by unknown. At that time unknown people advised him to "terminate with rallies" against the dominance of pop music on TV and radio.
Artyom Suslov said, that it is very regrettable that he will not be able to give the picture to the Patriarch. Also he have to cancel creative evening that scheduled for the nearest future
becouse he, at the insistence of doctors, was taken to the one of the hospitals of the city.
