Transgender People Are Under Attack - Help Stop the Lies - Action Needed
We are hard at work, running a grassroots campaign in support of transgender equality. Meanwhile our opponents are spending thousands of dollars to spread lies and propagate fear about a bill that would quite simply protect everyone.

So, what are they saying?

Listen to the lies http://www.masstpc.org/?p=424

What are we going to do next?

We are going to continue with an aggressive grassroots campaign, asking our supporters to contact their legislators in support of the bill.

We need your help calling our supporters. Please sign up for a phonebank in support of transgender equality next week. MTPC is working with MassEquality to do phonebanking, we need to generate phone calls legislaslators from constiuents that support civil rights and equality for transgender people.

To sign up for the Tuesday phonebank, click HERE:

Tell The Judiciary Committee You Support Equal Rights!

The Judiciary Committee will be hearing testimony on An Act Relative To Gender-Based Discrimination And Hate Crimes on July 14th at 12 PM, and they need to hear from you!

We need as many people sending in written testimony as possible. Sending written testimony is quick and easy. Just write a page or two about who you are and why you support equal rights for transgender people in Massachusetts, and mail a copy of your written testimony to each of the committee chairs. A lso - VERY IMPORTANT - please send a copy via email to testimony (at) masstpc.org.

Wondering what to write? Think about:
Why does this issue matter to you? (Do you care about civil rights, do you know trans people who have been discriminated against or harassed, etc)
Who do you know that is affected? (family member, partner, friend, co-worker, teacher, etc)
Why should legislators care? (You work/live/vote in MA, you are testifying about something personal or emotional that might affect their constituency, etc.)
What are the most important things you need to get across? Remember, the longer it is, the less impact it will likely make.

What everyone should include:

Your name and some identifying characteristic such as your work or your relationship to the transgender community.
The name and number of the bill you are testifying in support of. For Rep. O'Flaherty, the number is H.1728. For Sen. Creem, the number is S.1687. In both cases, the name of the bill is "An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes."
Please sign and address a copy to each:
(Don't forget to email a copy to testimony (at) masstpc.org!)

Senator Cynthia S. Creem
Joint Committee on the Judiciary
Room 416B
State House
Boston, MA 02133

Representative Eugene L. O'Flaherty
