The goal of this conference is to provide a scholarly space in which to both reexamine and reinvigorate the social and political tradition of anarchism. The conference will be held in Plainfield, Vermont from August 24th to the 27th. |
The aim of this conference is to create a participatory forum for open thinking that could ultimately push anarchism past its own limitations. To this end, the conference will center around 30 half-hour presentations and followup discussions.
We still have a few openings for presentations that do one or more of the following:
*analyze and/or critique current social relations and dilemmas - from "globalization", nationalism, and new forms of hate and violence, to biotechnologies, modernity, etc.
*share work and ideas on anarchism's relevance and potential as a political/social theory as well as a practice, particularly within the emerging new social movements;
*attempt to grapple with and constructively challenge/build on standard anarchist notions in light of a radically changing world.
Our aim for this conference is modest: that in creating a forum in which to speculate on and refresh the anarchist tradition, anarchism may inch forward a bit as an ethos. Wh hope that this is one of many steps toward a critical anarchist theory and vision for the 21st century.

Please Don't Feed the Trolls
Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "An Internet troll is either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." Boston IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.
