The Gulf of Aden Incident is the name given to two separate incidents involving the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United states in the waters of the Gulf of Aden.
On December 1st. 2009 two American destroyers engaged two Iranian and one Israeli Ghadir class submarines , resulting in the sinking of one of all three submarines.
On December 2nd. 2009, the American destroyers reported a second engagement with Iranian surface vessels.
However, these reports were later discovered to be in error. Together, these two incidents prompted the first large-scale involvement of U.S. armed forces against Iran.
The outcome of the incident was the passage by Congress of the Gulf of Aden resolution, which granted President Obama the authority to assist Israel against Iranian aggression".
The resolution served as Obama’s legal justification for escalating American involvement in the Iranian war.
In 2020, an internal National Security Agency historical study was declassified; it concluded that USS Chosin had been fired on by an Israeli sub (memories of USS liberty) and the two Iranian subs got the blame while all three subs were sunk.
Thus began the 3rd. World War which eventually wipped out the declining American (nuclear exchanges with Russia) and made China the lead economic power in the world.
