AmRen Conference Back On
17 Feb 2010
In a surprise announcement, the white supremacist group American Renaissance (AmRen) yesterday said that their ninth biennial conference, which had previously been canceled, is back on. On the AmRen web site Jared Taylor, AmRen's founder, announced that the conference is now being held at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in Washington, DC this weekend, February 19 - 21.
This is the fourth hotel that AmRen has attempted to hold this year's conference in. The other three, the Dulles Marriott, the Dulles Westin, and the Four Points by Sheraton Manassas Battlefield all canceled their contracts with AmRen after learning of the group's neo-Nazi and anti-Semitic practices.

This is not the first time that the Capitol Skyline has welcomed white supremacists. In November of last year they hosted the racist American Free Press conference at which former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke spoke. It is widely rumored that Taylor revealed the latest conference location in the belief that the Capitol Skyline would continue to host the event in the face of community and nation-wide protests. Taylor attempted to keep the previous venues secret from all but conference attendees.

The Self Described Anarchist Collective, a DC-area anti-authoritarian organization, has called for a telephone and email campaign to persuade the Capitol Skyline to revoke AmRen's contract, and for protests at the conference itself if the conference is not canceled. The Capitol Skyline can be reached at 202-488-7500.
