Anti-War International Women's Day-Boston
Boston, Mass.-March 5, 2011:

From the event announcement:
Greater Boston Code Pink and The Womens International League for Peace and Freedom invite you to join us in celebrating International Womens Day
on Saturday, March 5, State House Steps, Boston, 1-3pm.

In keeping with the day's historical linkage of labor conditions and need for peace, our Boston event will focus on Code Pink's national campaign to " Bring Our War $ Home", ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAdnFkXHuYA), We are partnering with Veterans for Peace (How is the War Economy Working for You?) and the Massachusetts Campaign to Fund Communities, Reduce Military Spending by 25%.

The sponsoring and partnering groups see International Womens Day as a critical opportunity to stand with workers throughout America proclaiming that the budget crisis must not be solved on our backs alone; our national treasure must be directed to the needs of Main Street instead of investing in Wall Street and the military/industrial complex's vision of never ending war.

We are astounded to learn, for example, that just bringing home 151 US troops from Afghanistan, a war now opposed by majority of Americans, would more than solve the short term Wisconsin budget crisis.

On March 5th we will listen to testimonials from Boston area women who are living with the crises in employment, housing, education and health. Women veterans will also share their experiences and internationals will link our struggle with women throughout the world. Holding roses aloft we will be loud with songs and chants led by The Raging Grannies, and the local Code Pink Parasol Brigade. We will march with our pots banging to the bridge in the Boston garden where, in keeping with the recent Day's tradition, we will "join with women on bridges across the world"
Bring pots, pans, friends, and the men and children who love us!
