Announcement :: Human Rights : War and Militarism
SOA Watch- April Days of Action
09 Feb 2012
From April 14-17, 2012, we return to carry our resistance to Washington, DC.
EXPECT US!
We continue to push forward our demands for the closing of the SOA/WHINSEC and an end to US militarization in the Americas. We return to the streets of DC fresh off the energy from the November 2011 vigil in Fort Benning, and ready to train, lobby, engage in civil disobedience and celebrate the resistance! Now, it is more important than ever to get anti-militarization on the national agenda and create a broad alliance of social justice activists to change the culture of militarization!

We hope that you will be a part of the activities, and mobilize your networks.

Schedule of the April Days of Action

Please visit www.soaw.org/take-action/april for more information
Wednesday, April 11 - Friday, April 13: Direct Action Training Camp - come and learn the skills you'll need to make election year exciting and get the SOA and militarization on the national agenda!

Saturday, April 14 and Sunday April 15: Conference and Strategy Sessions - learn about other struggles, the SOA Watch movement and put heads together to see where we are headed, and how we are going to do it!

Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17: Lobbying on Capitol Hill and street actions. Take what you've learned and get your Congress member to cosponsor HR 3368! And don't forget lively parades in the street, and who doesn't want to get arrested speaking out for justice??!

Art, culture and music will be an integral part of the mobilization. Stay tuned for more information and updates to the schedule!
Start Mobilizing!

1. Let your friends, community and networks know about the April 14-17 Days of Action. At the 2011 November Vigil in Fort Benning, at least 42 states were represented by groups and individuals! Let's make that even better in April, as we need to show Congress that we won't stop!

2. Show a screening of the new SOA Watch DVD in your community, and invite SOA Watch speakers to your events! Order our bilingual, informational broadsheet about the SOA/WHINSEC to educate your community!

3. Contact your Congressional representative and urge them to sign on to HR 3368, the bill to close the SOA/WHINSEC and review military training. Ask them to set up a meeting with you in April (SOA Watch lobbying will happen on April 16-17 and we will need your presence with us! Contact Alison Snow asnow (at) soaw.org for more details). Read more about SOA Watch taking the U.S. Government to court.

4. Make a donation to help make April in DC a real celebration of life, hope and resistance!
