If you don't teach history, learning may become a consumer product. What we think we know is a product and will change in the future. Learning is an historical process. Anything we know will be modified. There is psychology in what is seen first and second or not at all.
Neil Postman, professor of Culture and Communication at New York University, is the author of "Amusing Ourselves to Death" and "Technopoly."
