BOSTON, Mass. (December 18, 2013) - Valley Green Feast, Western Mass’s trusted local, organic food delivery service debuts in Boston on January 8th with the help of bike couriers, Boston Collective Delivery. Both are worker owned co-operative businesses, owned and democratically controlled by the workers. Valley Green Feast invites Bostonians to place an online order for local food and have it pedaled right to their doorsteps, all year round. Pre-orders must be placed before January 2nd to secure a spot on their first delivery.

Valley Green Feast stands out from other food delivery services by prioritizing organic, fair trade, and cooperatively produced food from within Massachusetts. For five years, they have partnered with more than 50 farms and small businesses to gather seasonal baskets of vegetables and fruit, plus meat, cheese, bread, honey, and so much more that local food has to offer.

“Our philosophy is to ‘spread the love’ and partner with as many producers as we can,” explains worker/owner Ruth Ann Hacking. “In turn, our customers receive the widest variety and the highest quality of local food available, and we all support a thriving local economy – everybody wins!”

An exciting new partnership with Stone Soup Farm Cooperative even creates the country’s first worker owned co-operative food supply chain, ensuring that everyone from farm to table is treated with respect and understanding as essential members of the local food community.

“It’s the perfect service for people with busy schedules or limited access to transportation” says Rebekah Hanlon, who co-owns VGF with three other women. “With the help of our community we are creating a local food system that minimizes environmental impacts, strengthens our local economy and offers a convenient way for everyone to enjoy healthy, affordable food.”

Valley Green Feast is a local food delivery service based in Hadley, Mass., with a mission to support local farms and producers, to help their products reach consumers, and to make local, healthy, delicious food as accessible as possible to a wide range of consumers.

Boston Collective Delivery is a worker owned bicycle messenger cooperative in Boston, Mass., which values sustainability and community. They make deliveries with human power and solar-electric assist cargo bikes in order to replace traditional car service, providing the most efficient and environmentally friendly delivery service in Boston.
