Why You Should Not Vote

-

Some people faught so hard to get the vote because they were deceived in the first place. To do honour to everyone (especially those who died defending what they saw as freedom) we must accept the responsibility to not compromise that freedom in the name of security.

There are many other things we could be doing instead of voting, like- smashing lawnmowers- smashing TVs- acknowledging the innate deception of pride by not voting (and ceasing the fueling of that deception with the payment of taxes) for someone who is trying to bolster it--- I would remind that we are reflections of highest beauty (integral and wise), not Gap Kids.

Freedom cannot be voted for when it is thinking that we have any choice at all that is the problem. I am a cell in your brain suggesting perfection and fearlessness--- why ignore truth to live just a little bit longer- there are more important things than 'putting food on the table' when that food is your grandchildren...

It is interesting to note that anyone who acts as if they are firmly convinced that pride is good and/or free-will is real is attempting to deceive.

PS: right is ordained by love- we do not have the right to ignore it--- A.K.A. we do not have the right to be proud- we do not have the right to be spiteful- we do not have the right to claim 'private property' because we are apprehesive about letting unknown people sleep under 'our' trees- we do not have the right to depend on luxury when necessity is not being fulfilled--- our world is burning and money is not going to save it, it's killing it, actually. It's time for the exodus. It's time to not be afraid anymore and, for the sake of all life, not content ourselves with lies (even if we've become dependent on them).

in courage and honour,

in patience,

me

Okay...I'm suppose to listen to a Canadian?
I've voted over 25 years. Never voted for a right winger.
Now? I'm not suppose to vote.
Nah. If I didn't want Dubya out? I'd vote Green. Dubya MUST go!
I'll bite the bullet and vote for Kerry!
I agree with Canada against the invasion of Iraq. (I was anti-war from day one.)
Can't agree with the above article.

there ius nothing harder to consider that pride being a sin.

So I am all about questioning the effectiveness of voting and I know that I feel really conflicted about what to do in the current situation in the US. However there are lots of different pieces that play into what is going on. First I question whether or not I think voting is an effective thing to do. Really I doubt that our votes really have anything to do with the outcome of who gets to be president or really any other position. However, for many folks voting is the first time they start thinking about what their politics are and I encourage people to start reflecting on what their thoughts and motivations are as that will help us become a more truly democratic society. Also, since voting doesn't take too much of my time and it is symbolic of something I believe in I might as well take the time to vote even if I'm writing in ANARCHY or some person I think would make great change. Also with the current situation I know that if Bush remains president my life probably won't change a whole lot. As a middle class, white, able bodied, english speaking, us citizen, male I am pretty all set. As a queer person I have some concerns, but he won't lead to my death or major discomfort. If he is president my sister might die because she can't get access to a neccessary abortion. More folks around the world will die because his foreign policy is worse than Kerry's. Kerry is a shit. He would make a terrible president, but he will lead to less death and destruction and as a person with lots of privilege I need to recognize that. All that said, I live in Massachusetts and don't have to vote for Kerry because he'll take this state on a landslide. I an vote for whomever I choose or I can choose not to vote. But I believe if I lived in a swing vote in order to be accountable to folks who are oppressed in this world I would have to bite my tongue and vote Kerry

This thread is ridiculous. Davis Arthur Johnston you sound like you're wacked out of your skull.
Dumb posts like this serve to discredit indymedia.
Or maybe you are a bush operative. :)

we do not need schools or hospitals if they are rooted in rape and murder

I'm not only saying 'do not vote' I'm also saying that if you pay taxes you are a NAZI--- if you've honour you must consider pride as sin (simply because I just suggested it)

have patience- start planting food everywhere (one hand can hold a thousand seeds = hope)

EXODUS- mark this word because it is a very real senario--- from pride to humility, regardless of all consequence (we must face the fact that we can no longer be dependent on ignorance)

have patience because the world is not what most people would think it is- everything IS perfect absolutely predestined- have patience because you are eyeballs of the everything following a path determined by our inspiration- you do not make choices.
