Book Discussion on The Politicians and the Egalitarians Professor Sean Wilentz talked about his book The Politicians and the Egalitarians: The Hidden History of American Politics, in which he looks at American political history through the lens of egalitarianism and partisanship. In his book, the author argues that America’s pursuit of a society of equals is dependent upon “protest and politics” and that political parties and partisanship are necessary to ensure a properly working democracy.

At the beginning, Prof. Wilentz quoted Reinhold Niebuhr "Statesmanship easily degenerates to opportunism and prophets should recognize they have a note of moral superiority. Manipulators make things very different.
At the end, he said: "The Almighty looks after children, drunks and the USA."
