Announcement :: DNC
* Call To All Video Activists - DNC-IMC, Boston *
21 Jun 2004
Modified: 10:58:05 PM
Are you planning to attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Boston this July? Do you know someone who is?

The Video Team of the Boston Independent Media Center is looking for footage of protesters and activists planning to attend the DNC. We want to know:

Why Protest the Dems?

From July 23rd-29th, before and during the week of the DNC, the Video Team is working on a series of projects in collaboration with CCTV (Cambridge Community Television), the BSF (Boston Social Forum), and U-Mass Boston's Community Media & Technology program. During this time, Boston IMC can use your video segments for daily broadcast airing on local CCTV and planned for national FSTV uplink. We'll also help distribute Boston Social Forum footage through UMass-Boston's high-capacity Community Media & Technology project.

Boston IndyMedia can also feature your footage on the DNC section of our website. We hope to show the face of the protesters, in their own words, to help dispell the Corporate Media's myth of the violent protester. Many people are concerned that protesting the Dems will hurt the fight against Bush - your piece can help demonstrate the true motives of protesters at the Convention, and can help inspire folks heading to New York City for the Republican National Convention!

Your 1-2 minute segments can reach an enormous audience and can help dispell myths and fears about political activism, while also raising important issues while the demonstrations are in the public eye.

If you have your video camera handy, excercise your free speech and let the world know why you plan to protest the Democratic National Convention:

Are you an advocate for Health Care Reform? Affordible Housing and Equal Education? Do you want accountibility of the Democratic Party Platform and the current status quo? Are you just angry and want to speak your peace?

All segments will be considered for both television and internet video, as well as teach-in and video screenings about the DNC. Submissions should fit the following criteria:

- length: 1-2 minutes edited, or any length w/ raw footage
- format: VHS, Hi-8, MiniDV, DVD and CD (high quality quicktime or .avi)
- credits: please include credits for any/all copyright footage used. Plug your IMC! Anonymous submissions welcome!
- submission date: postmarked by July 15, 2004, late submissions considered as time allows
- mailto: Boston IMC, attn: DNC-Video, P.O.Box 441414, Somerville MA 02144

Help our Video Team communicate the voice of the people to the public sphere!
