"How Doctors Take Women's Pain Less Seriously."
Most people are unaware that the our male dominated medical profession is rife with backward, sexist and absurd ideas about women.
Women are presumed to be "hysterical," attention-seeking," "malingerers" and by doctors. Doctors often see women are "emotional" and assume women exaggerate their descriptions of pain. As such, medical professionals will often ignore, discount and refuse to treat female pain and women's medical problems.
Although these backward concepts about female behavior date back to over a century ago, our patriarchal, white male dominated medical profession still not only believes these ideas.
Sexist stereotypes should have no place in determining whether women get access to life saving health care. Please read more about this problem. Women need your help.
