Youth resistance is widespread, but we are often unaware of others who are striving for justice in different areas.

Join youth from across the northeast at the Youth Unite 2 Fight: Stories from Statewide Struggles workshop during the Active Arts Youth Conference/Boston Social Forum Saturday, July 24th 3:30-5:30.

We are bringing together youth from across New England to create a youth workshop at the Boston Social Forum. The Youth Unite 2 Fight: Stories from Statewide Struggles is part of the Active Arts Youth Conference Part 2 and will take place Saturday, July 24th 3:30-5:30 Rm 138 Wheatly Bld. at U Mass Boston. Free childcare will be provided.

Let's break isolation by networking and building our strength! Make connections with grassroots activists and let others know about what is happening where you live.

Join activists from across the Northeast to increase awareness of youth struggles and develop stronger solidarity. Listen to youth who will share: snapshots, rhymes, spoken word and stories about what youth are dealing with in the communities where they live throughouth New England.

Hear from youth from: Arise for Social Justice (Springfield, MA), Brockton RISE Youth Center, Worcester Youth Center,Freeing Ourselves (New Bedford, MA), New Hampshire American Friends Service, Direct Action for Rights and Equality (Providence, RI), Connecticut Youth Peace, Firstbe (New Bedford, MA) and others.

If you would like to participate in the Youth Unite to Fight workshop please see the workshop format (below). For unity of vision we have drafted questions for participations of the workshop. You can answer these questions using any medium (photos, song, poetry, paintings, stories etc.). -What are social, political and economic issues that affect youth in your community? Through art, photography, paintings, song, stories, poetry, video, and/or interviews portray the injustice(s) in your communities. Emphasize the issues that most directly affect youth. You are encouraged to describe both personal and political challenges that youth are facing in your community.

-What is being done to fight injustice where you live? Bring a story of a youth organization or individual who worked with others to challenge an unjust policy (either recently or historically) in your community.

-What do you think youth need to work together and fully realize our power for change?
We look forward to your participation whether you come to network with youth from diverse areas or to simply learn about what youth are doing to organize against injustice in their communities.

The Youth Unite to Fight workshop is the first event of will continue in August with regional workshops around New England focusing on the role of youth in social movements and community organizing. Join up with our youth contingent going to the Books not Bombs Youth Conference taking place right before the Republican National Convention protests in New York City and meet with youth-led organizations there.

Let us know if you would like to get involved in the Youth Unite to Fight workshop, would like to host a regional workshop, or would like to mobilize youth to go down to the youth conference before the Republican National Convention email: camilo (at) cell phone: 508-837-9167
