Childcare For The No-DNC Convergence

A Call for Childcare Volunteers http://blackteasociety.org

The Bl(a)ck Tea Society will put parents in need of childcare in touch with volunteers willing to help out during the week of the DNC. Parents needing childcare may come to the Convergence Center during our hours of operation [see below] and ask about childcare at the welcome desk. Requests for services in advance may be made to childcare (at) blackteasociety.org. All arrangements will be made on a case-by-case basis and agreements will be made between parents and volunteers regarding the details of care. Parents are urged to bring all necessary supplies (toys, blankets, diapers, food, etc.) that their child may need. Also, parents should be prepared to provide emergency contact information to volunteers.

We have a number of volunteers willing to work with children, but we can always use more. If you are willing to help out with childcare during the week of the DNC please write the volunteer coordinator at childcare (at) blackteasociety.org. We are especially interested in hearing from licensed childcare providers, so if you have credentials please let us know. In the spirit of mutual aid, If you are a parent and are bringing a child in need of care, we ask that you also volunteer some of your time during the week to take care of other children.

Both the Convergence Center and the Really Really Democratic Bazaar (a public gathering on the Boston Common, July 27th, 12-8 PM) will be child-friendly spaces. The Bazaar will offer children's games and other activities for young people. Parents should feel comfortable bringing their children to Boston during the DNC and should feel assured that all of their needs will be met. If parents have any specific questions or want information on local childcare centers, they should write the volunteer coordinator. During the week of the convention, a phone number will also be provided to parents if they have needs that are urgent.

The Convergence Center will be open Sunday, July 25th: 6pm-9:30pm Monday, July 26th - Thursday, July 29th: 8am-11pm.

The Convergence Center is located at the: Community Church of Boston 565 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02116
