Boston IMC needs LO-bandwidth audio stream
26 Jul 2004
Not everyone has broadband
It's great that Boston IMC has their audio stream up and running, but the bandwidth doesn't take dial-up access into account!
You need a 22K, or better, a 16K feed to either replace or supplement the one you have.
I don't think Hi-Fi quality is an issue, is it?

Please -- ASAP, OK?

The Audio team is working hard to try to make this show as accessible as possible! The Audio techs will probably post more information about the show, accessibility, and other important information, in the next day!

Just FYI!

Great to hear.
Go to it!

Please check your volume and stuff...most of the signals are overmodulated.
Watch the vu meter !

Anyway...good luck with the show !

it would also be great if the audio folks could set up an instant messenger account so people can communicate with them that way.

for example, the levels on the current song I Wanna Be A Superhero are pretty bad, there's a lot of high static. it might help you to get feedback about the audio quality if you had an easy way to receive messages.

if not, an email address woul be good too.

thanks for setting up this audio stream, i'm really looking forward to the up to the minute reports. i'll try to rebroadcast some of it on radioActiveRadio.org too...

Apologies. We had such a mis-matched set of donated equipment that we had to try swapping cables around and had some serious impedence-matching problems. -As well as dead air and a bad weblink. It should be working better now.

Alternative to bad web link...

We just tried it and the link should be good from the IndyMedia site. In case you're going through a caching proxy or something and it still isn't wotking, here is a different page with the same link:

I'm a mac os9 user and can't download any of the media players needed to listen to the audio stream because my system isn't osX. Is there any way you can fix it so mac os9 users can use there "out of date" media players? Thanks a ton, and keep up the great work!!!

Hey -- youse guys did a great, quick job getting a sofistikated-like multi-bandwidth setup going.
Kudos.
Content sux tho' ;>

Actually, I'm writing to agree with a poster above: the VU is all over the map. Right now I'm cringing in anticipation that the almost inaudible feed I have cranked up full is going to destroy my eardrums at any moment with a change to a new stream.
Youse guys gotta get some protocol going to make sure all the audio is on the same volume-level.

Otherwise -- great work!
