Medea Benjamin Dragged Off DNC Floor in Handcuffs For Unfurling "End the Occupation of Iraq" Banner

As Teresa Heinz Kerry spoke last night, on the floor of the convention, Medea Benjamin from Global Exchange and CodePink unfurled a pink colored banner that read "End the Occupation of Iraq." That apparently was not one of the DNC-approved messages of the night because within moments of the banner being unfurled, police were called in to remove Medea Benjamin.

Benjamin was dragged off the convention floor and thrown out of the FleetCenter. She said that the DNC was asked whether they wanted her arrested and that they decided that would not look good.

The story is even better than that! Medea Benjamin was on KPFA radio in Berkeley last night and told the story.

She managed to get a pass to be in the convention halll during the Theresa Heinze Kerry Speech. At the point when Mrs. Kerry said, "true patriots speak truth to power", Media unfurled a banner that read "End the Occupation of Iraq." Police imediately descended upon her. Mrs. Kerry was then saying something to the effect of, "John Kerry would never send US troops..." Media cried out, "But will he bring them home? Bring home the troops, bring home the troops..." She was dragged off the floor in cuffs by police and interrogated for 30 minutes before being let go (outside the convention hall). Who knows how she got the banner in. Delegates wearing 'delegate for peace' scarves have been getting their scarves confiscated at the door. Bet you didn't hear this on CNNFOXABCMSNBCFBICBS.

Veterans Demand End to Occupation by Mike Ferner http://www.antiwar.com/orig/ferner.php?articleid=3196

BOSTON - As military veterans wrangle over whom to support for president, one veterans' organization has fired a shot across the bow of whoever will occupy the White House next year.

Over 400 Veterans for Peace (VFP) members gathered last weekend in Boston for the organization's annual convention, hearing from Daniel Ellsberg, historian Howard Zinn, former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, members of Military Families Speak Out, and the newly-formed Iraq Veterans Against the War. They also passed a resolution in the form of a memo titled "To White House Occupant After Jan. 20, 2005," demanding

"[T]hat the next U.S. president announce, within 10 days of taking office, that he will withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq within 60 days, and … that if this 10-day period following the inauguration passes without a publicly-announced decision to withdraw all troops from Iraq within 60 days, Veterans for Peace chapters around the nation will begin a campaign including, but not limited to, petitions calling for the impeachment of the president."

The resolution states, "The United States presence in Iraq is causing, not preventing, destabilization and violence. Veterans for Peace is committed to ending this immoral, unjust war of empire regardless of who wins the 2004 U.S. presidential election."

Concurring with that sentiment as he addressed the vets assembled at Emerson College, Ritter said, "Iraq is on fire. We are the fuel for that fire and we need to withdraw it."

Timed to conclude just prior to the Democratic Party’s nominating convention, also in Boston, the last event on the VFP schedule was a peace march past the heavily fortified convention center, bristling with armed guards, where the Democrats will meet.

VFP membership has grown to over 4,000 since the Bush administration ordered the invasion of Iraq last year. The organization has over 80 chapters throughout the U.S.

Kerry and Edward are only a Trojan Horse for
The Corporate-Military-Industrial-Intelligency-Complex.
It is about Oil, Petrodollar vs Euro currency.
Saddam Hussein switched his Oil sales from dollars
to the Euros on November 6, 2000. (One day before
our election for President).
