Mumia Abu-Jamal to Speak Sept. 29th at UMass Boston Teach-In to Protest Oct. 3 Pro-Death Penalty Bush/Gore "Debate"

As one of a series of teach-ins hosted by the UMass students to protest the 1st Bush/Gore debate scheduled to militarily occupy and close their campus Oct. 3, the Boston Coalition for Mumia Abu-Jamal will sponsor this event on the history of the racist death penalty and the struggle to free Mumia Abu-Jamal, world renowned "voice of the voiceless" on Pennsylvania's death row. The program will begin at 6:30 PM in the UMass Boston Harbor Campus main auditorium. For public transportation, take the Red line (Ashmont branch outbound) to the JFK T stop, and a shuttle bus from there to the UMass campus. UMass Boston is wheelchair accessible.

Featured speaker will be Mumia, "Live From Death Row", in audio commentary he's preparing for this teach-in. Also speaking, a leader of the MOVE organization from Philadelphia; Lawyer Johnson, wrongfully convicted of murder and incarcerated in Massachusetts; Kazzi Toure, former political prisoner, on Political Prisoners in U.S. jails; video footage of the R2K(Philly) and D2K(Los Angeles) demonstrations to Free Mumia; poetry and music; and other invited speakers yet to confirm. Endorsed by Cornell West.

Come to show your support for A New Trial for Mumia; to speak out and learn about the U.S. Criminal IN-Justice System's killing machine; to condemn the fake "debate" and the politics of death espoused by both Gore and Bush; and to build a strong "Stop the Prison Industrial Complex/Free Mumia" march to the main event on Oct. 3.
