On this day in history...
05 Jun 2001
On this day in 1995, 2,000 peasants in Mexico shut down the stock market for two hours.
Two thousand peasants took over and shut down Mexico's stock market, protesting electoral fraud and economic recession. The stock market was surrounded by the peasants and people were prevented from entering or leaving the building for two hours. The stock market shut down was the climax of a 40 day march to protest fraud in the state elections.
