We have a Political Prisoner in Boston
10 Jun 2001
A man was arrested on Sunday for being attacked.
On the afternoon of June 10, 2001, a ad hoc coalition of various
organizations and associations held a presence in Brookline MA, at the 53
anniversary of the creation of the state Israel, to support Palestine in her
struggle for freedom and justice. The organizations represented were
progressive human rights, religious, labor, and different ethnic and
national groups.

With a presence of over 100 people, the demonstration was peaceful despite
provocations by Zionists through out the afternoon. One Zionist, who
approached our people four times, to elicit provocations, assaulted Amer
Jubran, of the West Bank, currently a resident in Rhode Island. The
harassment involved a physical assault directed at Amer, eyewitnessed by
several of our demonstrators, one of whom gave a statement to the Brookline
police. After hassling brother Amer, the Zionist crossed the street away
from the demonstrators, spoke to at least five police officers, who intern
questioned Amer. Gabriel Camacho, member of Al-Awda Massachusetts, went to
the aide of Amer, who was himself threatened with arrest if he ³continued
to interfere with the investigation². Gabriel states that the Brookline
Police had videotaped the demonstration from various angels through out the
entire afternoon, and further states that these tapes would indicate the
Zionist actually engaged in violence and not the other way around. Brother
Amer Jubran was then arrested and is bring held with out bail.

Amer Jubran is a political prisoner. He was exercising his rights of free
speech and freedom of assembly. His only crime is being a Palestinian. We
are in the process of seeking a legal strategy. We need you to stand on
Alert for further details of the actions you can take. We will need people
who will be willing to make phone calls, write letters, organize, mobilize
and contribute to a legal fund.
