Dog-killing not so civilized
20 Aug 2004
The traditional method of dealing with pet overpopulation in Greece is to implement mass poisoning.
Greece may be the cradle of civilization, but there is nothing civilized about the way the Greek government is handling the overabundance of stray dogs marring the pristine image they want to portray for the summer Olympics. The traditional method of dealing with pet overpopulation in Greece is to implement mass poisoning. So in order to present a clean and wholesome image to all the people watching the Olympics from around the world, up to 15,000 stray dogs are being rounded up and systematically poisoned, as we speak

With all the money being spent on keeping the athletes safe from terrorists, the Greek government has chosen to terrorize the innocent dogs in their own country. Perhaps some of the money could have gone to spaying and neutering their animals and finding them real homes.

Greece is being cruel, barbaric and antiquated in its treatment of "man's best friend." So when you sit down to watch the beautiful, talented athletes who will compete for gold medals, know that up to 15,000 innocent canines were brutally murdered, so as to present an esthetic picture of this "civilized" country.
