Will John Kerry wear red socks?
28 Oct 2004

So, we ask ourselves, will the Autumn of 2004 being witness to the long-awaited Red Sox return to a World Series victory, also be the dawn of the age of Kerry?

"Not bad ... 1918's now just another year we won the World Series." said Red Sox general manager, Theo Epstein on seeing his team finally take the World Series once again. Just another year? We don't think so! November 1918 saw the signing of the <a href="http://www.watertownhistory.org/Articles/ArmisticeDay1918.htm";>Armistice</a>, finally closing the curtain on ill-named " War to End all Wars". At the time, citizens of the U.S. were experiencing a heady outbreak of peace. Not bad, indeed. We could use some of that here and now, yes?

November 1918 also saw the ravages of <a href="http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/uda/";>The Spanish Flu</a> epidemicl that swept the world and the nation, taking over half a million lives in the U.S. alone. All very yin & yang, was it not?

So, we ask ourselves, will the Autumn of 2004 being witness to the long-awaited Red Sox return to a World Series victory, also be the dawn of the age of Kerry? After all, the would-be president does hail from Boston, right? And, putting aside the fact that many of John Kerry's policies sounds a lot like "bushism without Bush", getting King George out of Washington has a sort of revolutionary ring to it (albeit a staged, televised, packaged and highly managed sort of "revolution")

However, Kerry seems to have little interest in peace these days, though there is the outside possibility that it actually is part of his unspoken game plan. Some have made the comparison between the Spanish Flu epidemic and the spread of SARS, but that feels like a stretch. Maybe all this drawing together of the ages is merely gray matter calisthenics; an excercise in futility.

Still.....Red Sox take title/Kerry takes White House.....it just seems to work, no?

I don't know if Kerry will wear red socks, but the Boston KKKops will still act like Phillies "fans," and hopefully, next year, we'll see Pedro in pinstripes.

Who woulda thought that we'd live to see the curse broken? Well, congratulations for this year, and as for the next, we'll be back....

Yay Sox... but Curt Schilling is an asshole for endorsing Bush... which he did on TV this morning.

Whoever wins, Bush or Kerry, we all lose.

Maybe those John Birchers were right after all...maybe it IS a conspiracy. Only worse than they thought.

But there is a better way to fix things than these two - Bush or Kerry - are promoting. If you're curious, go here to find out what it is, and thanks.
