Radical Carroling 12/17
16 Dec 2004
Radical Carolling
December 17th
Meet outside the Boylston Entrance of the Boston Public Library
Our favorite holiday tradition: Radicals hit the malls, streets, and the T to
sing revised Christmas carols that share our ideas about sweatshops,
capitalism, dumpster-diving and more! Come for a jolly good rehearsal tonight
and hit the streets with us on two later dates (rehearsal is not required
before the other events, but it'll make it easier as some of the rewritten
carols are tricky). Can't sing with us? Download a songbook and go out with
your friends or start a new family tradition.

there is a rehearsal for this tomorrow night (12/15) at 14 Lopez St. at 7PM
but you can still come to carolling if you can't attend this.

Hope to see some of you there!

why are you doing this? it just legitimates their rituals.

First off, the song book can be found at:

Second, about "it just legitimates their rituals":
I hardly think that someone as ingrained as christmas charols will suddenly be that much more legitimate because we use the rythems for our songs. The idea of taking the music of popular songs that everyone know and replacing the lyrics with something more radical stretches back an awefully long time. That is exactly what Joe Hill and the IWW did with the standard church hymms of the day.

Third, relax.

Four, yes, fuck religion.

fair enough.
"@" is a rightwing troll pretending to be an anarchist

Ignore him.

It is still a valid point of concern, and worth addressing.

But yeah, whatever.

The smallest event and *someone* still has to make a stink about it.
