JOB OPENING at Boston Neighborhood Network (BNN)

Boston Neighborhood Network (BNN), Boston's community media center, offers
public access to cable television channels, video production equipment and
facilities, training, production support, and a multimedia computer center.
By providing the means of production and a public forum, it invites diverse
communities to express themselves and encourages broad-based public
dialogue. BNN:
* Provides Boston residents and organizations with access to
production facilities and training
* Sustains two local cable television channels and website
* Produces a nightly local news program
* Manages a live interactive studio for non-profit groups
* Produces special community television programming
* Maintains a community-based multimedia computer center
The BNN Access Studio Manager oversees all aspects of the utilization of the
BNN Access Studio at the Mall of Roxbury, the community access television
studio for Boston residents and organizations. S/he manages studio
operations and training to facilitate the production of programming by BNN
members. S/he works with the Access Director, General Manager and other BNN
staff to improve BNN's programming and public services.


Manage daily operations of BNN Access Studio facility:
* Facilitate all studio-based programs of BNN producers, from program
proposal to delivery of completed programs
* Provide technical support during productions
* Manage computer-based scheduling
* Train, supervise and support part-time staff, volunteers and interns
* Provide reports and recommendations to management
* Oversee equipment maintenance and facility upkeep
* Facilitate networking between producers, crew and the general public
* Support the operations of other BNN departments, including Field
Production/Editing and the BNN Multimedia Center
* Assist management with special projects, including production of

Coordinate studio production training:
* Train Boston residents and organizations in effective use of studio
for production of BNN programs
* Train, supervise and support other instructors
* Design workshops, informational materials and training videotapes
* Coordinate group productions to facilitate community expression and
provide experience to new producers and crew

Candidates must have:
* Extensive experience in all phases of video production, live and on
tape, including studio, field equipment and editing. (Experience with
digital equipment a plus.)
* Extensive experience as a studio production trainer.
* Managerial and supervisory skills and experience.
* Solid technical, troubleshooting and video engineering skills.
* College degree or equivalent life experience.
* Excellent people skills, and ability to communicate well with BNN
staff and diverse membership.
* Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
* Commitment to public service.
* Ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple assignments.
* Strong writing & computer skills.
* Familiarity with community media a plus.
* Spanish or other major local languages a plus.
* Knowledge of Boston a plus.
