Boston Anti-War March, “Don’t Turn Tragedy Into War”

THURSDAY, SEPT. 20th 6:00 PM

MARCH from Copley Square to Harvard Square

Sponsored by the Boston SLAP (Student Labor Action Project) Anti-War Coalition: individuals and groups from Boston College, Boston University, Emerson College, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern University, UMass Boston, Sabate Anarchist Collective, Barricada Collective, S.P. Collective.

The Boston SLAP Anti-War Coalition has adopted and will march under the following 5 points:

1. We want to express sympathy for the victims of Tuesday's tragedy, and the friends and family they left behind.

2. We want to express our belief in the sanctity of human life.

3. We want to protect civil liberties that we hold dear and fight the scourge of racism toward Muslim and Arab communities in the United States and all over the world

4. We want to assert the need for an alternative to President Bush's calls for a war – one that utilizes rationality and compassion, not hate and haste.

5. We want to stimulate dialogue about what America should stand for and its role in stopping the global cycle of violence.

The 6:00 pm march is the culmination of a nationally coordinated day of anti-war campus action. From 12:00 to 1:00pm, participating schools will have some form of anti-war activity on campus. At 2:00pm we will hold a press conference at MIT.

appeal to the heart not just the mind
18 Sep 2001

Hi, I want to encourage people to check out afghan-info.com. It's done by an enemy of the Taliban and is also anti-US bombing. Further it has some invaluable pictures of the country including the children. Young people represent the innocent and horror of war as they are often the main victims. Its so important right now that we reach out to Americans with reasoned arguments AND an emotional appeal. On the latter the U.S. corporate nationalist media is kicking our asses. They know all to well that to manufacture consent for another invasion they first need to portrary the enemy as sub-human. These pictures are the best refutation.
