Boston Council holds "secret" meeting with BU BioTerror lab representatives today
21 Jan 2005
The coalition to stop the BU Bioterror lab learned that City Council President Michael Flaherty scheduled a "City Councilors only" meeting with Boston University for 12:30 PM today on very short notice and in apparent violation of the state Open Meeting law.

If you are a Boston resident, it is time to call and write your district City Councilor and the city-wide councillors. Tell them that the recent revelations about BU's researchers getting infected in the lab -and the public not learning until now - shows that BU cannot be trusted and the lab is not safe enough to be in Boston.
Also, tell them that they should not be attending closed door last minute meetings with BU.

Also, call and write the Mayor to tell him the same.

(There is no need to contact Councilors Arroyo, Hennigan, Turner, and Yancey because they oppose the lab. Call and write city-wide Councilors Flaherty and Murphy. Call and write whichever of the following is your district councilor: Consalvo, Feeney, Kelly, McDermott, Ross, Scapicchio, or Tobin.)

This is in light of great media attention over the coverup of sick BU researchers as evidenced here:

And right after residents have filed a lawsuit against Boston University (BU), Boston Medical Center (BMC), the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), and other state agencies challenging the environmental analysis for placing BU's dangerous bioterrorism laboratory in the South End/Roxbury.
