Wed Feb 9, 7pm: Radical Movie Night – Brazil
“Have a laugh at the horror of things to come.”

BRAZIL is Terry Gilliam's masterpiece. The film is
set in a futuristic society laden with red tape
and bureaucracy. When a bug (literally) gets in
the system, an innocent man is killed, leading
mild-mannered Sam Lowry (an excellent Jonathan
Pryce) to reexamine what he wants out of life. He
decides to fight the totalitarian system in his
search for freedom--and the woman he loves
(1985, 142 min).

Sat Feb 12, 7pm: Antifa Movie Night – Talk Radio

“Because watching movies can be an antifascist
act”

An acerbic radio talk show host based in Dallas
starts what could be an important few days when
he discovers that his controversial late night
show is about to be "picked up" by a nationwide
network of radio stations. However, all is not
perfect for him, because on top of troubles with
his love life and fears that the management of the
network will try to alter the content of his show
he has to cope with a neo-Nazi group who have been
angered by his forthright opinions.

Sun Feb 13, 2pm: Industrial Workers of the World
Mtg

The Boston area IWW meets regularly at the Lucy
Parsons Center on the second Sunday of every month
at 2pm. Meetings are open to all interested in
militant industrial unionism.

Since its founding in 1905, the IWW has fought for
better working and living conditions for all
workers in all industries. The IWW endorses no
candidates, nor does it participate in electoral
politics. We also oppose the bureaucratic craft
unionism of the AFL-CIO, which serves only to
divide workers based on trade, engage worker
against worker in wage wars, and mislead the
workers into believing that the working class has
interests in common with the employing class.

Instead we seek to unite all workers on a common
economic front, under the banner of industrial
unionism. Only then, will our combined strength
succeed in usurping control of our labor away from
the parasitic hands of the capitalist class. Once
we stop doing what we are told to do and start
doing mwhat we collectively decide to do instead,
there isn't anything much that can stop us!

Wed Feb 16, 7pm: Radical Movie Night – The Trials
of Henry Kissinger

"A stunning and overwhelmingly cogent case for
Kissinger as a calculating war criminal."

THE TRIALS OF HENRY KISSINGER, a documentary based
on the book by British journalist Christopher
Hitchens, argues that Kissinger, the former U.S.
Secretary of State and the recipient of the Nobel
Peace Prize, was a power-hungry warmonger
responsible for massive military cover-ups in
Vietnam, Cambodia, and East Timor in the 1960s, as
well as the assassination of a Chilean leader in
1970. The film includes interviews with historians,
political analysts, and such notable journalists
as the New York Times' William Safire--a former
speech writer for Richard Nixon. In addition, it
uses archival footage from the Nixon era,
including coverage of events both in Washington
and in Vietnam. (2002, 80 min)

Wed Feb 23, 7pm: Radical Movie Night - Surplus

“This film is an intense hyper-sensory composition
of just why civilization has to go!”

This new collage/commentary by Italian filmmaker,
Erik Gandini takes a hard look at the grotesque
nature civilization and the multifaceted resistance
to it. This musically and visually stunning film is
reminiscent of Godfrey Reggio’s KOYAANISQATSI, but
with more overt commentary and political relevance.
The film tackles weighty themes like consumption,
technology, objectification, domination, ideology,
and resistance. (2004, 54 min)
