In the wake of the tragedies of September 11th, we are left with a wave of racist attacks, increased repression and harrassment by the authorities, and the looming war perpetrated by the U.S. government and media.
As communities of ethnic minorities continue to be terrified by huindreds of racist attacks, including serveal murders, the government is preparing for war on both international and domestic fronts. On the international, thousands of innocent civilians will lose their lives as
the U.S. takes revenge against the people of Afghanistan. On the domestic, Congress is preparing a large boost of strength to the U.S. intelligence agencies, which includes widespread surveillence powers, and the particularly disturbing power to detain any non-citizen indefinitely
without reason. We know that while the U.S. claims it needs such powers to combat terrorism, history shows that agencies such as the FBI make no distinction between combatting terrorism and crushing unwanted political
dissent.
Ethnic minorities and immigrants in the United States are fearing for their livelihoods, while Afghani citizens are fleeing for their lives!
