We haven't featured this for a couple reasons. One, some of our volunteers are working on an article on the various May Day actions. Two, we generally don't feature stories like this that are just action reports. We prefer stories that discuss the issues at hand--there could have been some discussion here, for instance, of the continuing relevance of anarchism and the continuing need for class struggle. We all complain that the corporate media, when they bother to cover protests at all, just cover the events that took place, not the issues. Well, we get lots of folks posting to Indy Media doing the same thing. Since we're trying to be an alternative to the corporate media, we generally focus on featuring articles that cover issues as well as events, not just events--something the article on animal rights did. If the author wants to rework this article to include some discussion of the important issues, we might well consider featuring it. |
