USS JFK was a "booze cruise"

USS JFK was a "booze cruise"
This weekend the aircraft carrier USS JFK came to Boston. If you were around downtown on saturday night, you might have noticed the hundreds of sailors and soldiers around the nightclubs and bars. At a club on Washington Street, one sailor told me they were enjoying their "booze cruise in Boston". I dont know if this is a fact, but it is a first hand account from a conversation with a drunk sailor. He said that the USS JFK was part of a national recruitment effort to get troops out and about in the cities, interacting with people and to stir up patriotism.
Is there anyone else that heard of this?

I saw them downtown this weekend. I thought it was unusual to see sailors in town, but you gotta admit, they do look cute in those tight white pants!

I guess that's exactly what they were going for: sex appeal = product sales?

I wonder if the folks who saw drunken sailers pub crawling actually saw sex appeal, or just saw drunken soldiers ready to murder, rape and pillage in the next country our "just" leader decides to invade for corporate profit.

That's what Ithought after I stopped admiring their form-fitting trousers...
