First Malden Justice Fair-June 4

The Malden Asian Pacific American Coalition is sponsoring the first Justice Fair in Malden Saturday, June 4, 3 to 6 p.m. at First Parish of Malden, Universalist, 2 Elm St. The themes of the conference are: "Knowing your rights" and "Taking action from your heart."
Speakers and organizations taking part include Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner; Paul Watanabe, director, Institute for Asian American Studies and association professor of political science, University of Massachusetts Boston; Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition and Tri-City Community Action Program, Pro Bono Legal Service.

Attendees can find out about their basic rights as voters, immigrants/naturalized citizens, consumers of financial institutions, tenants/homeowners, persons with disabilities, victims of domestic abuse/human trafficking, persons stopped by police and about federal laws regarding employment discrimination of immigrants.

Refreshments, an interpreter and child care will be provided. The program is free, but donations will be welcome to help MAPAC's future events. For more information, visit MAPAC at 110 Pleasant St., 3rd floor, or leave a message at 781-388-6931 c/o Great Wall Center.

The program is made possible by volunteers and friends of MAPAC and the First Parish of Malden, Universalist. Member organizations include Tri-CAP, Healthy Malden, Bread of Life, Mass. Senior Action Council North Metro Chapter, Great Wall Center and the Local Action Committee. This program is also supported in part by a fund from a Community Development Block Grant.
