Corporate Rule
29 Sep 2000
Corporate rule or Democratic nation?
Big Business dictates trade policy to the WTO, which of course is a trade agreement signed by the U.S. government, which Big Business barely pays taxes (compared to the u.s. citizens themselves) to, if they do business multi-nationally. Backed by Republicans and Democrats, this agreement along with NAFTA and GATT, the European Union, the South American and African states trade agreements in discussion right now, all either pushed by the United States with a strong hand or having the U.S. as a LEADING member, are largely unexplained by a U.S. media, owned, oddly enough by these same corporations, pushing the trade deals themselves with money and influence in Congress and the presidency. Not to mention the outrageous deals worked out between, most notably, car manufacturers and a couple of southern states; which averaged out to the taxpayers paying $100,000-$200,000 to the companies per job created.

Sound like Democracy to you?

Republicans and Democrats fail to realize that the american people could realize the same cancer medicines without government and business interference or help, depending on how you look at it. Yes, we are pretty smart, resourceful and co-operative if left alone. But, conservatives who constantly talk about "personal responsibility" without actually know what it means, and liberals throwing money at everyone, ruin it for the rest of us. I can look at my paycheck, the 33 percent in taxes gone to state and federal and I gotta thank you GOP Apologists and Liberal bigSpenders.
