59 Amory Street is made up of activists and artists who have been too successful in improving their neighborhood and community. The recent sale of their building is bringing this to light. Eviction notices have been spotted in mailboxes foreshadowing the new owners' intentions. (article 1) |
59 AMORY ARTIST EVICTION EMERGENCY
The new owners of the 59-71 Amory Street (Stavros Frantzis and Mordechai Levin-M&S Realty) have started passing out eviction notices, beginning with the primary organizer for A-STAND, Roxan McKinnon.
We are hoping to enlist your help by making phone calls to M&S Realty to voice your disapproval of their hostile actions. They clearly stated publicly that these actions would not be taken in a Jamaica Plain Gazette article earlier this year. Their motivations for the evictions have
nothing to do with lack of rent payments, etc. It is our belief M&S Realty is now targeting ASTAND members who have chosen to hold M&S accountable.
Please contact them and demand that they meet with ASTAND tenants so that we may work together to solve the issues at hand, before itıs too late.
