After almost a year of preliminary hearings, the trial of Nick Giannone has reached the stage of jury deliberation and they were "hopelessly deadlocked" when court adjourned today. Tomorrow, at 10:30 a.m., Judge Forde will instruct the jury that they should attempt to reach a unanimous decision. If no decision is made a mistrial will be declared and in all likelyhood the case will be retried. |

After almost a year of preliminary hearings, the trial of Nick Giannone has reached the stage of jury deliberation and they were "hopelessly deadlocked" when court adjourned today. Tomorrow, at 10:30 a.m., Judge Forde will instruct the jury that they should attempt to reach a unanimous decision. Nick was arrested at the Democratic National Convention during a chaotic situation provoked by the Boston police. The two hundred demonstrators were outnumbered by Boston police and military personnel five to one. They were completely surrounded and under heavy surveillance. The purpose of the arrests - all of them arbitrary - was for the Boston police to justify millions of dollars of funding for security at a point on the last day of the convention when it became obvious that there was no "threat" to justify the money spent. The appearance of a threat was therefore created by the police.
Nick and two others in the DNC 3 were arrested arbitrarily and falsely charged.
