Vietnam Wins Anti-Poverty Struggle
Hanoi, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam is among the countries making striking progress in the war against poverty, to the point of reducing the social scourge by 7.8 percent between 1993 and 2002, revealed a World Bank report.

The joint study, which also involved the Development Ministries of Germany, France and Britain, targeted 14 countries and recommends development as the key tool in the struggle against poverty.

The research explains that the one percent growth of Gross Domestic Products helped shrink poverty an average of 1.7 percent.

Other countries making progress in this area were El Salvador, Ghana, India, Tunisia and Uganda.

In Brazil, poverty was severed by 2.27 percent between 1993 and 2002 and by 1.03 percent in Bolivia from 1989 to 2002.
