"A hit." - The New York Times
A documentary look at the hidden downside of the "new economy" in California's Silicon Valley-a very "old economy"-style exploitation of tens of thousands of low-paid temp manufacturing workers-and also a funny and moving meditation on America's love affair with technology. Told without narration, the film chronicles a tumultuous year in the lives of two young activists (of South Asian and Latino extraction respectively) grappling with the problems of corporate globalization on their own doorstep.
A question and answer session with the directors and local activists will follow the film. Tickets $5 at the door.
This special screening is co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Campaign on Contingent Work and the National Alliance for Fair Employment. Call 617-338-9966 for more information. |
