Strange Coincidence in Dominican-Haitian border

Strange Coincidence in Dominican-Haitian border
Santo Domingo, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) The announced visit by US ambassador to the Dominican Republic, a Pentagon official, and the Dominican military staff tomorrow to the border with Haiti was highlighted Sunday here as a "strange coincidence".

The "evaluation tour" of the Haitian border will coincide with a meeting of a Dominican high-level delegation with Haiti Prime Minister Gerard Latortue.

According to El Nacional newspaper, the Dominican government asking the US for the border assessment as part of a multi-scope program including DEA and the Southern Command is "equally strange".

Haiti is suffering from a serious social and political crisis, caused by clashes between those promoting December presidential elections as a way to furnish the country with a legitimate government and those betting on chaos and election delay.

Citing talks in diplomatic circles, El Nacional denounced that Washington has already chosen its own presidential candidate (Dumas Simeous) and intends to replace UN troops in the Caribbean island, or at least, control Haiti from the Dominican Republic.

Another possibility is the United States wanting to build a military base in the Dominican-Haitian border, warned the newspaper.
