Event: free trade vs. fair trade
16 Aug 2005
RIGGED RULES AND DOUBLE STANDARDS

HOW CORPORATIONS CONTROL TRADE

AND WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT

Tuesday, August 23 at 7 pm in the Wakelin Room 2

at the Wellesley Free Library, 530 Washington Street

A talk by Elisa Arond from Oxfam America and the Boston Fair Trade Coalition

and student organizer Eric Ginsburg

FREE sponsored by the Radical Youth Alliance
Free market capitalism means that corporations are free of any sort of restrictions: essentially companies write up free trade agreements and give them to politicians to pass. Free trade destroys the lives of countless people around the world and allows companies to pollute without any regard for human, plant, or animal life. You are invited to a presentation that will go more in depth about what free trade is as well as ways that we can fight against it. With the recent passage of the Central American Free Trade Agreement, it is increasingly important that we all know exactly what the US government and companies are getting us into. This event is brought to you by the Radical Youth Alliance, a group of students in the greater Boston area networking around a variety of issues in a non-hierarchical way and using direct action tactics. This event is accessable from the Wellesley Square commuter rail stop. It is on the main road in Wellesley
