We must unite on September 12 to demand:

* Immediate relief--food, medicine, water, clothing, and emergency shelter for the people of the region.
* Extended unemployment benefits for all who have lost jobs, and a massive jobs and housing program for the near future.
* Money for Hurricane Relief, Not War!
* End the military occupation of New Orleans! People trying to feed their families are not looters!
* An independent international investigation of the criminal negligence that caused this disaster.

It is a CRIME for the government:

* to allow people to suffer and die because of their race and class.
* to treat people like the enemy because they are black and poor.
* to spend $200 billion on war while cutting budgets at home, resulting in more death and destruction.

Some of the cities where protests are already planned include:
New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Amherst, New Haven, Charleston SC, Jackson MS, Miami FL, Minneapolis-St.Paul, Detroit, Jersey City, Los Angeles, Houston, Raleigh, Washington DC, San Francisco, Chicago, Cleveland, Baltimore, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle, St Louis, Kansas City, Memphis, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and hundreds of other cities and towns of all sizes, in every region of the country.

Initiating endorsers include:
the Million Worker March Movement; Troops Out Now Coalition; Saladin Muhammed, Black Workers For Justice; Harlem Tenants Council; Chris Silvera, Chair, Teamsters National Black Caucus; International Action Center; Cuba Solidarity New York; Rev. Lucius Walker, Pastors for Peace; Rev. Luis Barrios, Iglesia San Romero de Las Américas; and local leaders and activists from around the country.

Re: 9/12-Monday, 5:00pm J FK Federal Bldg, Boston

A crowd of about 35 IAC, Socialists, Haiti and a few palestine solidarity folks turned out to do some laps in front of the fed building. We chanted "money for hurricane relief not for war" and other imaginative stuf that ive forgotten. A cable channel and a couple of photographers stopped by to make sure we were keeping to a perfect oval with good spaceing. Some words were had with the sargent and federal facility protection officer who came out to mock us and show off thier guns. Some post cards were passed around to save Francis Newton whos only got a couple of days left before the state plans to kill her.
It was a good oppertunity to mingle and swap flyers.
