Pinochet: Worse than We Thought

Pinochet: Worse than We Thought
Santiago de Chile, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, said Operation Condor was a "little thing," before judge Juan Guzman.

Former National Direction of Intelligence (DINA) agent Lieutenant Colonel Guillermo Lawrence Mires said he also pushed for more oppression and extermination.

Pinochet was processed as the author of nine kidnaps and a homicide in the Operation Condor case, and denied responsibility for crimes.

Lawrence, ex- DINA agent, said the former dictator knew what was going on and forced general Manuel Contreras to commit his task.

He gave names of relatively unknown people up to this moment in operating tasks of the organization, some of which occupied high positions.

These included Colonel Carabineros Abel Galleguillos, member of "the high command" of DINA directly under Pinochet and Contreras, the Marine official Rolando Garcia and Mario Jahn Barrera from the Air Force.

The ex-soldier, who participated in the detention of missing people, along with collaborators Marcia Merino and Luz Arce, was in service until 1993.
