Report and photos of solo AIPAC Protest @ BU
27 Sep 2005
Inspired by and in solidarity with the demonstration against American Israeli Political Action Committee in DC I turned out in the rain to demonstrate against an AIPAC event at Boston University on Sept 26.

Their were 4 Israeli politicians speaking about how great their "democracy" was and I, having spent two summers in occupied refugee camps and 3 weeks in an Israeli jail system full of Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike, thought I should turn out to keep them honest.

Report and fotos of AIPAC Protest @ BU
I sent out a last minute email (below) and got some calls from my affinity group saying a few friends would try and stop by later to see if their was anything left of me.

I got to the multi-million dollar Hillel club hall early and stood out front with my flag and sign and did a little flyering.

Someone from the place tried to tell me I couldnt stand on the side walk because it was private property. Isrealis will take everything, I thought to my self, but just made a case for the side walk being public space.

The BU cops showed up to try and get me to leave. Then they tried to get my ID by saying all kinds of stupid and illegal stuff.

After 20 minutes of hassling me a meathead sargent showed up and ripped the "FREE PALESTINE OCCUPATION IS TERRORISM" sign out of my hands, tore it up and took it to his cruiser (plate BUPD9 supr 599).

He pulled out his cuffs got in my face. He flipped out, threatened me and said he was going to take me down for disorderly conduct.

I said he couldn’t arrest me for DC if I was engaged in political free speech and started howling "Murder, Murder" at the top of my lungs to make the point, and because I was in a jam. I had just called him Saddam for stealing my sign so it was touch and go on where I would be sleeping tonight.

The cop tore two more signs out of my hands after a tug of war. Fortunately a large crowd gathered and an exchange student named Felix from Cologne stepped up to stand by me and snap photos. He doubled the numbers and diffused the situation with chit chat and soon called in friends who brought Oreos, mountain dew and dry socks.

You are my hero Felix! Without you I would have been toast.

On of the many Zionists who gathered to do the broken record fallacy song or hurl insults at me claimed I said I might run into the building and blow myself up. He later apologized if he had "misheard" me which was a first so don’t say there are no miracles.

His rumor had already made it around the ultra elite tower of persecution and I was grilled extensively by onlookers. I explained the usual storm of bomber and bus comments justice for Palestine folks get.

A couple of BU student reporters showed up to compete with the video cop for my mug shot.

I had some great conversations with a few folks and did some sparring with punk Zionist kids and arrogant elder snobs before saying good night.

The sign stealing sergeant’s car stalked me home on the train so I stood in a subway full of commuters giving him the bird at every stop till he slinked back to his spider hole.

I really want my signs back so if you're able, please call the honchos at BU and ask them about the 3 "FREE PALESTINE" signs violently stolen by BUPD9 (supervisor 599) Monday night. Thank you.

Pete
