CNN's outrageous double standards
03 Dec 2001
Modified: 04 Dec 2001
CNN's outrageous double standards once again show in their most glaring colors
Three suicide bombings ripped through Jerusalem and Haifa this past Saturday and Sunday, killing two dozen Israelis and injuring more than 200. In its coverage of the bonbings, CNN seems to have dropped all pretence at
keeping a single journalistic standard when covering violence in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In the case when the victims are Israeli, the reporting is done right on the scene of the mayhem, live and in real time, with ambulances zipping back and forth in the background, interviewing witnesses on the scene, zooming in on gory details, then the day after, right there in the funerals, visiting victims in hospital and talking to them up close and personal -- i.e., humanizing as much as possible the Israeli victims.

Of course, nothing remotely like this is ever broadcast by
CNN when the victims are Palestinians. 5 children were
killed by an IDF booby trap just last week, and the news
hardly made a blimp in CNN's selectively sensitive radar
screen. No breaking news about the death of the 5
Palestinian school boys, no breathless reporters running
down the street among the mayhem, no broadcasting of the
funerals, or of the parents, or of the injured in the hospitals. When the victims are Palestinians, we get the mind-numbing number count, and at best some wide shots of outraged Palestinians chanting during funeral marches -- i.e., dehumanizing as much as possible Palestinian victims.

Please share your disgust over CNN's glaring double
standards. They obviously value Israeli life much more
dearly than they do Palestinian life, and that is a shame.

YES I WITNESSED THEIR "COVERAGE" ALSO AND IT IS AS YOU SAY.JUST LIKE PRESIDENT BUSH SAYING ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF BUT IGNORING THEIR OWN TRESSPASSES.
IT CERTAINLY IS GETTING MORE AND MORE STRANGE AS IF THE MILITARY/MEDIA ARE FRANTIC TO MAKE THE VIEWING PUBLIC BELIEVE THEIR SLANT ON STORIES.IF YOU READ THE STORY POSTED AT INDY OF CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL'S SPEECH I SUGGEST YOU COPY THE SITE AND SEND IT TO AS MANY NEWSPAPERS AS YOU CAN TO GET IT IN PRINT.
I HAVEN'T HEARD OF THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD ENTRIES BEING EDITED BUT IT COULD HAPPEN.
