Announcement :: Organizing
The N-E (A)narchist Bookfair
14 Oct 2005
*please forward near and far*

After a few meetings, the ball is now rollling on the 2006 New England Anarchist Bookfair. We are looking at hosting the main event on Saturday, April 15th and are hoping to get a location secured by the end of the month. We are working on lining up speakers, panels, films and workshops.

We want to make sure that folks can get involved in the planning process with varying levels of commitement. Here's our brain stormed list of possbible ways to help out:
-come to the meetings and join the organizing collective
-fundraising: shows, film screenings, parties, can return, whatever you can work up
-donate frequent flyer miles to get speakers to boston
-art for display during the bookfair (either your own work or currating a display of others)
-organizing a workshop/panel/film screening during the bookfair
-design flyers or posters for the bookfair
-contacts for possible anarchist speakers
-figure out ways to get university funding

We also set up an announcement-Only list for the bookfair:

The ISO (Trots) harrassing anarchists.... That's pretty funny coming from the "mary Kay" of the activist world (buy our paper ??)

This event sounds awesome. I will be trying to get people to give art for the fair, as well as possibly organizing a fundraiser. Someone should talk to Books Not Bombs if you haven't yet. Would a movie screening have to be explicitly anarchist?

Artful, I don't have anything to do with the event, but I would imagine that if there was a movie that would be of interest to anarchists, then it wouldn't really matter if it were an "anarchist movie" or not. If all else fails, contact Scott, who runs the "Radical Film Night" at the Parson's center. He'll probably be able to get you a showing there.
